It sounds like the sequel to Serendipity because in a bizarre twist of fate two cat brothers, separated at birth, were reunited after their owners matched on Tinder.
Cathleen Cavin and Brian Herrera, both 44, had basically given up on finding love and both done what many single people do to curb the loneliness of a romantically love-less life – they each got a cat.
Ironically the shelter cats they each chose, Butter and Ozzy, were brothers and little did they know they would be the driving force that would help navigate these owners to finding love again.
"My daughter and I went into Petaluma Animal Services [the shelter] and saw the two cutest kittens ever! They looked identical," Cathleen tells LoveMeow but unfortunately due to rental restrictions she was unable to adopt both.
“We were devastated. When we brought Ozzy home, for weeks, Cali, my daughter thought that Ozzy was upset as he wasn't with his brother and I am sure she was right."
“I called the animal shelter but his brother was already adopted.”
Cathleen made a promise to her daughter that she would find Ozzy’s brother. Little did she know she’d actually make good on that promise because when she matched and went on a date with Brian (a year after connecting with him on Tinder, mind you), a case of divine intervention meant she happened to find Butter without even looking.
While at Brian's house, Cathleen spied him and thought it was her own cat, Ozzy.
“I could not believe my eyes. I yelled out, 'You have my cat!' He thought I was crazy cat lady until I had him come over to my house and see Ozzy.”
Upon doing so Brian could see the two cats are the spitting image of each other and, after reviewing both of their adoption papers, the couple realised why – they’re bros.
"Unbelievable fate! Brian and I have been together ever since our first date and now we not only found our soulmates, the cats are back together.”
Brian and Cathleen are planning to move in together next month, so Ozzy and Butter will be under the same roof again.
And that draws to a close Wednesday's feel-good story. If this doesn’t make you believe in fate we don’t know what will.
