Barbra Streisand is in mourning, having lost her 14-year-old dog, a Coton De Tulear named Sammie.
It was only a week ago the singer posted on her Instagram, giving her much-loved pup a birthday shout-out.
“Happy 14th birthday dear little Sammie,” wrote Barbra.
It would be only a mere seven days later that she would take to Instagram again to share the news that Sammie had passed away, penning a touching tribute to her beloved pal.
“Jason [Barbra’s son] took this pic of me holding Sammie on Mother’s Day. This is the last time my picture was taken with my beloved girl Samantha. May she rest in peace. We cherish every moment of the 14 years we had with her. May 2003 – May 2017,” she captioned the heartbreaking post.
Fans were quick to offer their condolences for her loss, as anyone who follows Barbra would know just how close she was to the little white dog. Samantha, aka Sammie, regularly made an appearance of the singer’s Instagram page, and Barbra was a fantastic pet parent. Even going so far as to throw her a birthday party one year complete with a replica Sammy cake.
It seems old age had got to the pup though, as last October Barbra asked fans for their positive vibes as Sammie went in for surgery.
At least she was able to enjoy a few more months in with Sammie before she crossed the rainbow bridge.
Rest in peace, little pupper.
