It’s (un)official: If you haven’t had a huntsman spider almost jump in your lap while driving then you haven’t lived (OR you’re just one of the lucky few people in Oz who haven’t almost swerved into oncoming traffic in a bid to fling the creepy-crawley out your window…)

Now, think about that arachnid-induced panic and times it by a bajillion. THIS is the kind of fear we imagine would set in when a red-belly black snake does the same thing.

Well, welcome to Ted Ogier’s world. Mr Ogier, an employee of Nolan’s Auto Parts at Pambula, NSW, was driving on the NSW South Coast when a red-belly black snake dropped on to his windscreen from his car roof.

According to Eden Magnet, after failed attempts of trying to enter Mt Ogier’s car (!!!), the snake then made a bolt for the driver’s window.

After tapping on the windows, yet failing again, the snake then wrapped itself around the car’s side mirror.

“It was sort of tapping on the window a couple of times, because it obviously wanted to get in,” Mr Ogier says, as reported by the ABC.

Despite Mr Ogier continuing his journey, the snake didn’t budge, prompting Mr Ogier to soon pull his car over and call his boss, hoping he’d know how to get rid of the snake.

His boss, Kai Pearse, came to his aid and, with time and patience, was able to brush the snake away into a nearby paddock with a broomstick.

“Not as frightening as getting a spider on the inside — spiders are one thing I don’t like, but I don’t like snakes either,” he says.

Mr Ogier, we beg to differ…
