An Australian dad has demonstrated the importance of checking your shoes in this country.
YouTube video user Modest Hyperbole showed how his son’s orange and blue jogger was turned from sports shoe to spider’s home over the course of a weekend when the child left his footwear out.
“My son left his shoes out over the weekend and this is why you should always check them before putting them back on,” the man narrated in his video.
Equipped with bug spray the man takes aim at the not so little invader and soon you see a very scary black spider retreat out of the shoe.
“Welcome to Australia,” the man says.
The spider appears to be a black house spider – a common species of cribellate Australian spider, found throughout much of Australia and New Zealand. It is venomous but poses no real threat to humans.
