How to bake without butter

So, you’ve decided to bake, but realise you’ve got no butter in the fridge.

It is possible to make your own baked goods without using butter – and no one will be able to tell the difference.

3 things you can use to replace butter when baking

Vegetable oil or olive oil

While there isn’t much nutritional value in these oils, using vegetable oil will give you closet match to butter in most things when baking. Olive oil is better suited to savoury baked goods.

Use: 1:3/4

Avocado

Avocado is a perfect butter replacement. It is nutritious, high in fibre and fits in perfectly with sweet or savoury.

Use: 1:1

Greek yoghurt

This high protein substitute works particularly well in cakes, or anything that needs a heavier texture (plus it’s delicious)

Use 1:1/2
