When you think of enviable hair, our minds tend to wander directly to our two favourite royals – Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

And while Kate’s lush brown locks are the kind of thing we could barely imagine achieving in our wildest dreams (seriously, is there any blow out more perfect than hers?), Meghan has brought us back to earth by rocking some chic styles that are actually accessible.

How do we know this? Well, because she’s just done something simple, yet genius with her hair that we can all appreciate.

Known for her signature brunette locks, which she wears both out and in up-do styles, Meghan Markle has an undeniably iconic look in today’s beauty landscape.

And while the actual products and hours spent perfecting her tresses are all but unknown to us, there’s a detail about her go-to look of late that’s made us sit up and take note.

Yep, ever since she gave birth to her baby son Archie, Meghan has been rocking a slightly different style these days – a sleek bun.

Before giving birth, Meghan was synonymous with wearing her hair out in loose waves.

Now, Meghan Markle has a new go-to hairstyle, and it might be for a very practical reason.

So why has she decided to change things up in the hair department?

Well, according to a hair expert, it might have everything to do with her post-pregnancy lifestyle.

Speaking to British publication The Express, celebrity hair stylist James Johnson said Meghan was likely experiencing the normal hair issues that occur to new mums.

Indeed many new mums experience some shedding of their hair after giving birth, and it’s all to do with how their bodies react when they are pregnant.

“When you’re pregnant your hair cycle stops so you don’t shed any hair, so when you give birth, all the hair you should have lost in the nine months falls out over a quick period,” he explained.

Because of this, Meghan may have simply decided to start wearing her hair in a sleeker bun style in order to prevent her hair from shedding more.

“If her hair was damaged during pregnancy, putting her hair up will prevent it from further damage,” he said.

Meghan also rocked a slicked-back hairstyle for Trooping the Colour in June.

The publication claims Meghan does her hair herself, without the aid of a hairdresser.

This feat makes us admire her even more, especially when you consider how polished she always looks.

We’re also sure mums can relate to her wanting to keep her hair off her face when looking after a newborn baby – distractions in the form of a rogue hair are the last thing you want to be thinking about!
