They were accused of cheating by Queensland brothers Josh and Brandon last week, and it looks like the drama is far from over for Victorian couple Leigh and Kristie. The pair have been embroiled in another House Rules scandal, this time with fiesty pair Chiara and David.

The hard hats are well and truly off on the renovation show this week, when David threatens to quit following an explosive fight with fellow contestant Leigh.

Tempers flare when the duo disagree over space allocated to each team in the renovating competition.

“People came into the area I was in who didn’t need to be in there,” David, 38, tells TV WEEK.

“They were trying to get more space out of it, trying to squeeze in the area we were trying to do. It was getting quite heated.”

David (left) nearly quit the competition over his fight with Leigh.

If fact, it gets so heated, David says he ends up storming out of the room. Then all hell breaks loose.

“Next minute, I’ve got Leigh in my face, being confrontational and going at me,” he recalls.

David’s wife Chiara saw everything unfold and says she was stunned.

“David and Leigh were getting quite aggressive with each other,” Chiara, 32, explains.

“I had to step in and get David out of there. They both didn’t look good, so I stepped in and told David to get some fresh air.”

A shaken David admits he was close to leaving House Rules.

“I was done,” he says. “I didn’t want to continue with the competition. I hated the negativity and the fights.

“I thought, ‘Why am I here when all I’m doing is arguing and not getting anything done right?'”

Chiara had to “step in” to stop the fighting between David and Leigh.

The Western Australian couple say Leigh, 33, and his wife Kristie, 36, are “very difficult to work with”.

“Leigh just goes, ‘I’m the chippie – I know what’s best.'” David adds. “It’s like, ‘Hang on a second – just because you’re a tradie doesn’t mean you’re the bee’s knees.'”

Chiara describes the Victorian couple as “very cocky”.

“Kristie thinks that she’s better than everyone and has more taste than everyone,” she says.

Last week, Kristie caused a stir when she made Josh and Brandon pay for a sewing table she and Leigh had taken from Mel and Dave’s house. David found that “disgusting”.

“I thought that was the worst thing ever,” he says.

Chiara feels Leigh and Kristie are putting the competition ahead of the home owner.

“They’re there to win it,” she says.
