When Meghan Markle and Beyoncé met in person at the Lion King red carpet premiere, we thought we’d reached a peak.
As per usual with glorious encounters like these, it’s part and parcel for one to indulge in a little (or a lot) of unpacking. And by that we mean a blow-by-blow of every. Single. Second.
And boy have we (and about a million other royal-and-queen-Bey-fans) done exactly that – so much so that a tiny detail in the singer’s golden dress has caught our eyes.
Before their divine meeting at the Lion King premiere held in London in July, Beyoncé was seen striking up a series of poses in her stunning Nguyem Cong Tri dress.
The Grecian-style gown was one that we, and many other fashion fans around the world agreed as being a perfect 10 when it comes to red carpet style.
And following the trend embraced by many celebs before her (we’re looking at you, Angelina), Bey’s dress featured a daring thigh-high slit that allowed her to expose her entire right leg for the world to see.
An absolute queen if we ever saw one!

And we certainly can’t blame her for rocking it like the pro she is, the mum-of-three looked absolutely phenomenal!
Beyoncé didn’t hold back on the red (or more accurately, yellow) carpet.

Beyoncé, who is an elite member of musical royalty met actual royalty in the form of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Cue internet breakage.
And in the commotion of excitement at the glorious meeting, many failed to miss a very specific detail in the singer’s dress that had quickly changed.
That thigh high split that we’d so happily coveted before was no where to be seen.
Where the split at, Bey?
Now we don’t want to jump to conclusions here. A cool breeze could have given the mega star a serious case of goosebumps, so she might have simply wished to wrap up with the limited assets she had available.
Or could it be that queen Bey was actually making a quick attempt to scrub up formally for the royal encounter?
The mystery remains, but there’s no denying Beyoncé’s risqué look quickly turned, well not risqué.

Whatever her reasoning for the wardrobe switch-up, there’s no denying the singer’s encounter with Meghan was rather special.
In a video (which you can view in the player at the top) Beyoncé was heard speaking to Meghan about baby Archie, telling her: “The baby, so beautiful. We love you guys.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Jay-Z were also filmed in discussion, with the dad-of-three telling the red-headed royal: “The best advice I can give you, always find some time for yourself.”
We want to see more of this golden foursome!
