Honest, brave and emotional – despite sharing every part of their lives on reality television, this new series shows the Kardashians and the 65-year-old in a completely new light.

Television history was made last night when part one of Keeping Up With The Kardashians: About Bruce aired on E!

It detailed the challenges the Kardashian/Jenner clan face as their beloved father transitions into a woman.

The episode started with a sit-down conversation between Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Bruce. 30-year-old Khloe didn’t hold back and admitted she was struggling with the notion of losing her step-father.

“So Bruce is going to be gone in the next four-to-five months,” an emotional Khloe questioned to which he responded: “Yes.”

The bombshell was too much for Khloe and Kendall to handle and in a candid moment the sisters moved into kitchen to let out their sobs of disbelief.

“I think it’s scary when people say Bruce is going to be gone,” supermodel Kendall cried.

“I’m not going anywhere,” the Olympic legend quickly reassured his girls before they shared a big group hug.

Bruce and his daughters on the day they filmed part of the emotional miniseries.

In what was a very raw episode, Bruce explained that he told each of his children separately about the transition.

Meanwhile, Kim revealed she first discovered the situation many years ago when she came home unannounced and spotted Bruce cross-dressing.

“I came home and walked in the garage and Bruce was dressed up like a woman. I ran to Kourtney’s and I was hysterical crying… so I kept this secret for maybe 12 years,” the mother-of-one shared.

As each of his children were interviewed by the cameras that they are now so familiar with, they spoke unscripted about their “grief” despite being resoundingly supportive of their precious dad.

Overwhelmingly, every member of the famous family expressed their concern for mum, Kris Jenner, and her own grieving process.

“My biggest concern is that you guys [her kids] are okay. I’m not okay. I don’t know how to handle this,” Kris, who married the athlete in 1991, admitted to Kim.

In what was a brutally honest conversatio,n Kris went on to explain: “This is my life. I committed to this life. I never expected that. Not in a million years… I have memories of this life and I feel like sometimes it didn’t exist.”

Kris Jenner bravely opened up about her former husband’s transition.

In an effort to keep his children in the loop about his transition progress, Bruce explained he had already undergone several surgeries to feminise his face and plans to have more surgery soon.

Through tears the Olympian told his kids: “The greatest thing I’ve ever done is raise my children. It’s my greatest accomplishment. I’ve got to deal with myself. The last thing I want to do is hurt any one of you. Am I doing it right, Khloe? You can never do this right. There’s no right way to do this.”

The E! network worked closely with GLAAD, a nongovernmental body that monitors the portrayal of LGBTI people in the media, to develop the inspirational episode.

As a result, it gave audiences a candid and frank insight into the lives of people dealing with an enormous adjustment, without heroes, villains or a resolute ending, just honesty.

The second part of Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s: About Bruce airs Monday night in the US.
