Birthday party

Are you planning a birthday party for your child? Jodie from The Party Parlour shares her simple tips for creating a gorgeous, co-ordinated party space.

  1. Decorate the front entry with some simple decorations or balloons to welcome everyone.

  2. Decorate a kids’ party table with colourful paper table runners, party hats and tin buckets for serving food. Spend a little more on paper plates, cups, napkins and party hats that perfectly coordinate with your colour scheme as they will enhance your decor and decorate the space.

  1. Use hanging decorations to draw the eye to main areas such as drinks and food tables. Tissue pom poms, paper garlands and bunting work well for this.

  2. Display and decorate an area for the birthday cake and take home party boxes or gifts that coordinates with your theme.

  3. Use jars filled with colour-themed lollies and vases of flowers to add interest to your main tables.

A whimsical, party theme

When Diana first started planning for her daughter, Charlotte’s 1st birthday party, she considered the sort of day she wanted to celebrate this milestone. She wanted the party to be at home in their garden with lots of family and friends around to celebrate.

Almost too pretty to eat

Charlotte’s birthday party invitation was used as inspiration for her birthday cake. Charlotte’s grandmother, Dani, made the two-tiered cake, which made it extra-special.

So whimsical and pretty

Jodie at The Party Parlour helped Diana decide on a colour scheme of pink and aqua blue, which featureed in the party invitations, table decorations, drinks stand, and other party decorations.

They also agreed on lots of fresh flowers and giant balloons to add a whimsical touch. The theme was based around a little doll which was the focus on the invitation.

Charlotte’s birthday party invitation featured a gorgeous personalised “dolly” design. It also featured a tassel garland in pinks and aqua blues, which set the scene for the celebration to follow.

Diana opted for sit-down tables and chairs for the children. They decorated them with simple tablecloths, paper table runners, tin buckets and party hats from The Party Parlour. Healthy party food was served in lunch boxes that had each child’s name printed on them.

6

Snacks for the adults were served on giant platters so guests could help themselves throughout the party.

A self-serve drinks table was set up in the garden with drink dispensers filled with soft drinks and water.

A Disney themed jumping castle was a great way to keep the kids busy and happy. Diana also had a face painter on hand to entertain them, plus a sno cone machine and fairy floss machine, which added extra excitement for both the kids and adults!!
