Ghee is a source of fat which is often made at home by melting unsalted butter until it boils.

During this process, milk solids found in the butter start to separate and are filtered out leaving behind a golden liquid – which this write can confirm is delicious with a bold nutty flavour.

The mother-of-three sung the oil’s praises on a recent blog post.

She explained that she likes to start her day off with a spoonful of the clarified butter.

Kourtney’s morning ritual – a spoonful of ghee.

“Ghee is the first thing I put in my body every morning,” she penned on her website.

“I take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic white cup. After I take it, I don’t eat anything for 20 minutes, and then I drink a glass of water before eating food.”

The reality star, who is the best shape of her life since splitting up with baby daddy Scott Disick, seriously believes in the stuff.

“In my kitchen, I only cook with ghee and coconut oil, and try to incorporate it into my meals as much as possible,” Kourtney shared.

“We make French toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, basically anything we can with ghee.”

Kourtney, holding her daughter Penelope, looks phenomenal.

The mum of Mason, six, Penelope, three, and one-year-old Reign also admitted that she likes to “sneak half a teaspoon of melted ghee into my kids’ warm milk because I believe in it so much!”

While there’s no question that the 37-year-old is looking fabulous, is that much ghee actually good for you?

Here are the positives; ghee is so low in dairy that it is virtually lactose free making it a great substitute for those who have intolerance.

Even Kourt’s kids drink the fat.

It also has amazing medicinal benefits which include decreasing inflammation, helping improve the digestive system and you can even use it as an ointment on your skin as a natural remedy for swelling and burns.

Plus it is packed with vitamins A,D,E, and K, and also has K2 and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) antioxidant.

Registered dietitian, Raman Khatar, told the Huffington Post despite all the medicinal factors, you shouldn’t jump into drinking a spoonful of it every morning.

The ingredient has been used for centuries in India.

Instead she recommends, “If you’re having butter on toast or choosing between ghee or another type of fat, then ghee is a great choice because of the benefits it may bring.”

At the end of the day, it is important to remember that ghee is a fat, with a large chunk of it being a saturated fat. In layman’s terms, it is known to raise levels of harmful cholesterol and that is linked to heart disease.

So like all things, it is ALL about moderation.

We might leave the ceramic cup with this Kardashian… and try cooking with ghee instead!
