Interior designer Shaynna Blaze loves a good renovation, on the set of the Block and now it’s her body that’s been given the overhaul, with the help of her trainer husband Steve Vaughan.
“She’s never really done training with me before,” says Steve, who runs one-on-one sessions and boot camps in Melbourne through his business, My Fitness Journey.
Shaynna has started running, completed a half marathon, and watched her body transform. “I was so focused on everything else, I didn’t even realise it was changing,” she says.
“I’ll always have ‘boosies’ and hips, which will stop me going down a whole size, but I’m now more of an 8-10, rather than a 10-12 – I want to keep it that way.”
It’s taken a while for Steve to coax Shaynna to train with him successfully.
“We trained together a few times in the past, but I was distracting people,” Shaynna laughs. “It’s better for his authority if I’m not there, whinging up the back!”
When Shaynna decided she wanted to ramp up her fitness though, Steve was the one who came to the rescue.
And Steve’s kept it in The Block family, training cast and crew including Brad and Lara, Kara and Kyal, Michael and Carlene and twins Alisa and Lysandra.
“We ran once a week and slowly built it up,” Shaynna explains. “I did a half marathon from basically one run a week!”
Steve explains, “We’d start off and run for 30 seconds then walk for a few minutes and we worked our way up. Then, before she knew it, we were running 10km!”
Shaynna hasn’t looked back. Now, as she and Steve prepare to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary, she’s approaching the next chapter of her busy life with a spring in her step!
