Roxy Jacenko told her cancer may return

The PR maven has taken on a strict new regime after being told by doctors there’s a 15% chance her breast cancer may come back.

It hasn’t exactly been a year of smooth sailing for PR queen Roxy Jacenko. And since her husband was sentenced to two years in prison, along with her shock breast cancer diagnosis that came just weeks later, the Sydney-based beauty’s rough patch appears far from over.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Roxy revealed that after undertaking tests in the US, her oncologist told her that the cancer has a 15 per cent chance of returning.

“I did a test in the US, which gives you a percentage of the cancer coming back, and it was a bit higher than the oncologist would have liked,” says Roxy, who, as a result, will be taking chemotherapy pills for the next decade.

“I have a 10 to 15 per cent chance of it coming back.

“All is looking good; the radiation for six weeks went fine – everything is looking good. If it comes back down the track, I will face it then.”

The Sweaty Betty PR director has kept fans informed via social media throughout her cancer journey.

Roxy will now embark on her strictest diet and fitness regime yet in order to give her body the healthiest lifestyle possible, according to Nine Honey.

“I have put in place a strict gym regime, which I am really enjoying. I hadn’t been doing any exercise since I had the children so it’s great to get back into it,” says the mother-of-two, who underwent the removal of a cancerous tumour in her breast back in August.

“I think whenever one is exposed to a health issue it really puts things into perspective and you are much smarter about your lifestyle.”

This news comes days after the 36-year-old appeared on Today Extra, where she opened up about her toughest year yet, and admired how her husband, Oliver Curtis, has maintained strength throughout the first six months of his two-year-sentence for insider trading.

“He is as good as you can be in that environment,” she said.

“We are proud of him — he’s taken it on the chin and is getting on with it.”

While she’s now the sole career for the couple’s two children, Pixie, five, and two-year-old hunter, Roxy insists that she’s looking on the bright side.

“Yes it’s tough, but I look at the positives… I think the positives outweigh the negatives,” she began.

“The reality is that everyone has challenges. Mine were compounded quickly in a period of four months… it’s a year I thought I’d never, ever face.”

“But at the same time, I’ve got two amazing children, a business that’s amazing with great staff. I think I’m very lucky.”
