A Plastic surgeon on Priscilla Presley’s new “youthful” look

We ask cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Stephen Mulholland to fill us in on the latest round of cosmetic tweaks he believes this wrinkle-free celeb has undergone...

Without a single line in sight, you’d never guess that Priscilla Presley is 71 years old.

While sitting down with host Lorraine Kelly, talking about honouring Elvis’ memory with a new compilation album of his favourite songs, viewers were quick to tap into Twitter to express their shock at the Norwegian-born star’s seemingly “youthful” appearance.

The former wife of the late Elvis Presley is no stranger to being caught up in a torrent of alleged nip-tuck tales, but it’s her appearance on UK talk show Lorraine this week that’s really sent the internet into a frenzy.

In 2008, the star’s publicist admitted Priscilla had undergone botched plastic surgery by unlicensed doctor, Daniel Serrano. According to reports at the time, the dodgy doctor injected the star with “industrial low-grade silicone”, which is often used to grease cars.

In light of this cosmetic surgery did-she-or-didn’t-she conundrum, we got plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Robert Stephen Mulholland, medical director and physician owner SpaMedica Cosmetic Surgery and Infinite Vitality Clinics in Canada, to fill us in on what’s really going on with Priscilla’s crease-free complexion.

Tell us, what do you think about the appearance of Priscilla’s face?

“Given that she’s not 20 years old anymore, she still looks pretty good.”

“I think what shocks people about these photos is that her cheeks are a little over-augmented, her mouth is a little pulled. She has had a good start but a bad finish.”

“Her brows, which used to be very severe eight years ago when she had a brow lift that changed her whole look, are now settled. And her eyes actually look fairly reasonable.”

In 1976 Priscilla Presley (L) was a true beauty – it’s little wonder she caught the eye of superstar Elvis Presley.

“It’s really the mid-face (cheeks and nose) and the mouth that makes her look a little harsh and a little plastic.”

What would you do to fix that?

“I think at this point you’d want her not to do any more volume with the mid-face section – just let it settle a bit. If she’s had a tension pull, allow it to relax. And just allow her face to age more appropriately.”

In your opinion, how much money do you think Priscilla has spent on plastic surgery?

“You’re looking at $AUD13,200-19,800 for the upper-third (the brow and the eyes) and $AUD26,400-33,000 for the middle-third (the bottom of your brows to your nose) so she has probably spent several hundred-thousand dollars over the last 15-20 years.”

We caught up with Dr. Robert Stephen Mulholland while he was in Sydney for the Cynosure’s Advanced Symposium.
