Every now and then, a new beauty craze takes Hollywood by storm.

By now, we’ve seen everything from bee sting therapy to aloe vera juice, but the latest and perhaps best beauty product to hit the Hollywood scene has, in fact, been here all along.

Coconut oil has been used over thousands of years for a myriad of purposes.

From cooking to medicine, there’s really not a lot this wonder substance can’t do!

It’s no secret that this miracle product has gained A LOT of attention for its incredible properties over the last few years, but the latest celeb to jump aboard the coconut train is Chrissy Teigen, and while we considered ourselves to be coconut oil experts, even we learnt a few helpful tips and tricks from the new muma.

Substitute butter or olive oil for coconut oil!

“I started getting into coconut oil maybe two or three years ago,” the Sports Illustrated model, who was recently named a spokeswoman for Vita Coco Coconut Oil, told Us Weekly.

“That’s when I fell in love with cooking a little lighter because my metabolism slowed down a bit. But now it’s gone from food to beauty.”

With a mission to prove all the many ways you can use the magic elixir, the 30-year-old took to Snapchat.

Kicking off the snap-a-thon, Chrissy showed her many followers her favourite way to fry and egg using coconut oil.

“Put 2 tablespoons of oil or so into a cast-iron dish and fry eggs in it. It comes off the pan so nicely; it’s a much better flavour,” she says.

Chrissy even uses the delicious oil as a spread or popcorn topping.

In the telling video, the new mummy also reveals the multiple ways she uses coconut oil as a skincare.

“Dry lips? No problem!” she says as she slathers a healthy amount onto her pout lips.

In addition to using the product as a shaving cream, makeup remover and moisteriser, the bronde beauty also goes on to show how she uses coconut oil on her two-month-old daughter’s skin.

“It is the only thing that actually hasn’t been too harsh for her,” John Legend’s wife quipped of her newborn’s sensitive baby skin.

“I truly have not had a diaper rash since… She smells like a little Thai coconut curry! I love it!”

Use coconut oil for a cheaper and more natural approach to harsh shaving creams.
