As the holiday season approaches, we want more than ever to be able to efficiently monitor the wellbeing and whereabouts of our loved ones at any given time.

Last week saw the launch of tribesta, the first social safety app of its kind hoping to improve outcomes in emergency situations and save the Government $1.2 Billion in resources each year thanks to faster access to critical information.

“tribesta is a smart, intuitive Australian innovation,” says Founder Kathleen Kenny. “It’s an everyday connector app that, at the tap of a button, not only gives peace of mind, but can instantly escalate to accommodate for emergency situations.”

tribesta is made up of four simple ‘one tap’ buttons including ‘I’m okay’, ‘Let’s Go’, ‘Alert’ and ‘000’, which each serve a purpose to update, notify, locate and even call for help.

“The tribesta app aims to make the world a safer place through social connection,” Ms Kenny goes on to say. “Users are able to nominate their ‘tribe’ – which can be made up of family, friends, and co-workers. The app allows tribe members to communicate and send instant messages to each other’s phones.”

The app appeals to all ages, giving parents comfort in knowing their kids are okay, and in turn gives kids the freedom they seek whilst “connecting everyone to their friends and families anytime, anywhere.”

tribesta is free and currently available to iPhone users, coming soon to Android.

iStaySafe and Life360Also are two other family-friendly safety apps that you can try.
