Scientists have developed an amazing breakthrough that potentially revolutionises the way we test for cancer reports The Mirror.

A new saliva test has been created by scientists which can diagnose the disease in just 10 minutes.

Until now, doctors have needed to take blood samples and use invasive techniques to test for cancer, but this new development is able to pick up trace fragment of tumour DNA in the body by testing one drop of saliva.

Trials on lung cancer patients have shown that the test in “near perfect” in accuracy, and can be done quickly and easily by doctors, dentists or even at home.

Lead researcher Prof David Wong, Associate Dean of Research at the University of California Los Angeles, said the test could be available in the UK by the end of the decade.
