9 “guilty pleasures” we refuse to feel any damn guilt about

Guilt schmilt.
Beyonce

Chances are you’re feeling guilty about something this very second. It could be your diet, your exercise regime (or lack thereof), or maybe your habit of binge-watching Netflix on a work night?

Without even realising it, we’re spending a large chunk of our day feeling guilty – recent research found that the average Australian woman feels guilty five times a day. That sounds way too high (yet, scarily accurate) to us, so we’re claiming back these so-called “guilty pleasures” as our own, and refusing to feel an ounce of guilt for enjoying any of them – and neither should you!

1. Harbouring an obsession with the royals

With Prince George’s cuteness off the chart, and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s romance playing out like a modern-day fairy-tale, we refuse to feel bad about our slight obsession with the Brits’ royal family.

We all have ‘Prince Harry’ in our web history and no, we’re not ashamed.

2. Binge-watching Outlander

With the third season out next month, the only thing you should be feeling guilty about is not binge-watching Outlander!

Of course we’re joking, but really, there’s no shame in a little Jamie Fraser to get us feeling good – just ask Claire Randall. It’s really not our fault the show’s episodes seem to just roll into each other. Time travel, Scotland, a fabulous heroine, and one phenomenal love debacle – how can we not watch?

3. Eating chocolate

Feeling bad about that 3pm office vending-machine choccie? Let’s be real, you’re never going to not feel guilty about eating chocolate – not with everything you read about sugar being bad for you.

But no one wants to cut it out entirely, so save yourself the hassle of a mid-arvo guilt trip by opting for a low-sugar, low-carb option. Aussie Bodies new Lo Carb Whip’d protein bars come in ice-cream flavour varieties – yes, we’re serious – which means you can enjoy chocolate, minus the guilt.

4. Sleeping in

Of course we have a million things to get done before leaving the house: putting that load of washing on, emptying the dishwasher, making the morning spin class.

But sometimes a sleep in is just what the doctor ordered, and the washing will still be there when you get home.

5. Rummaging the sale rack

Yes, we need to save (those mortgages, groceries and bills won’t pay for themselves), but sometimes a girl has to treat herself.

Whether it’s a pair of overpriced heels you simply can’t not buy, or a one-of-a-kind find at half its original price (score!), sometimes you just need to spoil yourself, spend the money, and not feel bad about it. Life’s all about enjoying the ride, right?

6. Eating an entire wheel of brie for dinner

Curling up on the couch with some brie and crackers makes one downright delish dinner, no matter what anyone says.

It’s not cheese’s fault it so damn delicious, versatile, and even better when eaten alongside other cheeses!

7. Stalking Chris Hemsworth on Instagram for hours on end…

Oh, those Hemsworths!

Who can help but having a little snoop to see what Chris and co. are up to? We certainly can’t and we’re not feeling bad one bit.

8. Having a glass of wine on a weekday

We all know we should try and have a few alcohol-free days a week, but there’s something about a midweek wine that feels oh, so good.

Pour it up because we’re no longer feeling any guilt for a glass with dinner. Cheers!

9. Bailing on plans to watch The Block

So sue us. Miss one episode of The Block and suddenly you have no idea what’s going on or how they’ve manage to install that bathtub.

The season comes once a year and we’re all for staying in. Sorry but we’re not sorry, friends. We can always catch up on the weekend!
