Breast cancer survivor poses in lingerie, proving the disease hasn’t won

And the photos are stunning.

Laura Hughes was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 25 and after undergoing a mastectomy on her left breast, she has posed in a beautiful lingerie shoot.

The Norwich hairdresser decided to do the photo shoot to create a powerful message that all bodies are beautiful, and that having scars is still a reason to feel “amazingly confident, and womanly.”

In an editorial piece for Good Housekeeping, Laura, now 27, wrote: “Yes, my hair was short and I only had one breast but it was still me and I looked beautiful,” Laura said of the stunning images. “I wanted to show that life doesn’t end after a cancer diagnosis.”

“My body may now be scarred forever but for each one I have, there’s an incredible story behind it,” she continued. “It shows the battle I have been through and the fight I’ve won.”

Following her diagnosis, Laura created a blog called Bald, Boobless and Beautiful to reach out to others going through similar circumstances and said that after first finding the lump while on a trip here to Australia, she figured it was nothing serious.

Urging others to get checked, she recalled her own experience: “I was unaware of breast cancer in people my age, so when I discovered a small, hard lump in my left breast while showering one morning, I put it down to hormones.”

Since the shoot, Laura has had a reconstruction operation to remove her right breast and is currently undergoing procedures for tissue expander implants under both pectoral muscles.

We applaud Laura’s bravery and think she looks incredible.
