Starring in two of the country’s biggest shows, Love Child and The Wrong Girl, Jessica Marais is one of the Australia’s most recognisable faces.

While the 32-year-old always looks photoshoot-ready, the mum-of-one credits her figure to a healthy state of mind – rather than fad diets.

“I used to think, ‘Oh I’ve got a bikini day, I’m going to go on some amazing diet until I have to shoot that’, but there is no sustainability in that sort of a lifestyle,” she admitted to the Daily Telegraph.

“You need to have a sustainable approach to your life, it is about feeling healthy and comfortable.”

Jess is a fashion icon, but her stance on looking good is actually very relatable!

The ever-stylish star says, “It is about feeling healthy and comfortable.”

The actress admitted that skipping hardcore workouts for activities like yoga have helped her physically as well as mentally.

“I have taken my emphasis more into strength recently,” she remarked.

“I’ve been doing heaps of yoga and I know it sounds ridiculous but the concept of it teaches me a lot about myself. I try and go walking. I stay pretty fit but having said that, when we are filming, the fitness schedule can go out the window slightly.”

Last year, Jess confessed that entering her ’30s helped her embrace life, rather than get caught up in her body image woes.

“I’ve become more body confident the older I’ve gotten,” she said during her cover shoot with Women’s Health

“By body confidence, what I mean is a self acceptance. You know, if 21-year old Jess knew she had a cover coming up she would be drinking just green juice and running like this [mimes running like a maniac].”

“But now I know I’ve done what I can do given where I am at. Also, I’ve gotten used to seeing some pretty awful pictures of myself from some of the cheeky photographers that like to follow me around! Once you’ve seen the triple-chin shots, well, a cover with a great photographer, and hair and makeup, is much better.”

Jessica Marais and James Stewart

The Aussie beauty’s most important role is being mum to her daughter, Scout, who she shares with ex-partner, actor James Stewart.
