A mother’s warning: cheap make-up causes little girl to have a SERIOUS allergic reaction

Absolutely heartbreaking!
Cheap make-up causes little girl to have allergic reaction

Kylie Cravens was left devastated when her little daughter, Lydia, suffered from a SERIOUS allergic reaction to a cheap makeup set bought at a dollar store in the US.

The little girl’s parents decided to share their story on Facebook in an effort to remind other parents “to be very careful about what we allow our children to have”.

In less than ten days the post has been shared over 176,800 times – this is clearly a parenting message people want to share.

Lydia started showing signs of a reaction just days after the makeup was applied. In less than eight days the girl was in the hospital with severe “burns” to her face.

Little Lydia.

Kylie and her husband Tony saw the makeup set in a “family dollar store” and thought it to be both harmless and non-toxic kids makeup, very similar to one they had purchased for their daughter previously.

“We never imagined after spending the day applying it to her eyes and lips that our worst nightmare would come true,” Kylie writes in her Facebook post.

“There are six different chemicals in this makeup that are commonly known to cause an allergic reaction. Lydia, unfortunately, was one of those people allergic.”

The makeup the family purchased.

Lydia’s allergic reaction was so intense that she was quickly admitted to a paediatric hospital.

“In 24 hours our little girl went from 100% healthy to her eyes swollen and blistered shut, with a rash all over her body that we would have to apply cold packs to every 30 minutes or so because her skin was burning,” The Facebook post continues.

“She was unable to eat much for days because of the blistering and cracking of her lips.”

“PLEASE be aware of what you are letting your babies have – ESPECIALLY kids cosmetics so this doesn’t happen to your child,” Kylie concludes the post.

Lydia is doing much better.

Lydia is now doing much better, in fact she’s almost fully recovered.

“Lydia is doing great we have had big improvements in the last 24 hrs,” the family shared.

“Still has some itching but the burning is gone. Hives are still on her face and neck but those to are starting to fade. SHE IS SMILING AGAIN.”

We’re wishing Lydia a speedy recovery!
