It wouldn't be Britain's night of nights without a glamorous dose of royalty.

There's only one thing more quintessentially British than the BAFTA awards themselves - and that's when the royal family actually walk the red carpet at the event.
Indeed, the British royal family have a long history with the UK's most prestigious film and television awards, dating all the way back to 1959, when Prince Philip was appointed its first president.
Since then, we've had the pleasure of seeing a number of royal family members attend the glitzy event, and while their appearances can be few and far between, we're about to get a full-blown spectacle as 2020's annual event approaches.

Confirming their attendance and delighting royal fanatics the world over, Prince William and Duchess Catherine are set to grace the red carpet on Britain's night of nights on February 2nd this year, and suffice to say we're brimming with excitement for it.
Prince William is the current president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, so the royal dad-of-three will also have the important duty of presenting the Fellowship award.
This year also marks his tenth year as the president of the association, so it's bound to be an extra special for him and his wife.
But Kate and Wills are far from being the first royals to walk the BAFTAs red carpet - and luckily for us, there's plenty of evidence to prove it.
So, to warm us up for what is set to be an evening of delight for our eyeballs, we've found all the glamorous pictures of the royals at the awards event over the years.
Keep scrolling for some pure visual joy.
