In a year where we have seen so much heartbreak and horror, it seems almost frivolous to be counting down the year’s craziest fashion looks.
But the fact is fashion is important. Fashion infiltrates every aspect of life, and not only that, it generates billions of dollars and provides millions of jobs.
Fashion, or style, does not need to be separate from politics. In fact, throughout history they have been inherently connected whether it be the purple, white and green coloured clothing of the suffragettes, or the red of communists, or even the yellow and gold that resonates with Australians all over the world.
Fashion is about art, history, culture and expressing yourself and so it is in these times when many of our personal freedoms are being threatened that counting down the year’s most bizarre (or perhaps more importantly self-expressive) looks is very important.
