“You’ve grown so fast!”
It’s one of the most frequently uttered phrases around any given child, and while it’s meant with the best intentions, it also has a slightly concerning connotation for parents.
Because as a child grows, so does their wardrobe.
It’s a tale as old as time. Babies are born, they grow out of their rompers. Toddlers grow older, they grow out of their boots, jumpers and joggers. Kids grow older, they grow out of their tees, shorts and dresses in what feels like the blink of an eye.
That’s why it might seem a little confronting when one considers the amount of waste we, as a collective society are adding when factoring in the amount of clothing a child might go through between the ages of zero to 18.
Of course, hand-me-downs are the best route to take when it comes to raising kids – wool jumpers and waterproof jackets will never go amiss when passed from one child, or one generation to the next.
But not everyone has access to such a second-hand inventory, especially first time parents who are dressing their own baby for the very first time.
