It would be a stretch not to notice the colossal impression Meghan Markle has made on the fashion industry since becoming a member of the royal family.

Indeed, the Duchess of Sussex proved she was a fashion muse from the get-go, with her Givenchy wedding dress safely becoming one of the most iconic gowns of the 2010s, perhaps rivalled only with her second wedding look by Stella McCartney.

But more so than ever, the stylish royal has cemented herself as a pillar in the fashion world by tackling, and well and truly nailing maternity style.

Indeed, dressing a baby bump might be a task that many would find daunting – but Meghan? She took it all in her stride.

With this in mind, there’s a certain few things we couldn’t help but notice when it came to the royal’s impeccable style – and it’s refreshingly welcome news to her fans and followers.

Over the past nine months, we’ve seen Meghan wear a number of glamorous gowns, chic coats, pristine prints and don’t even get us started on those drool-worthy shoes.

But as varied as each look was, there was something in common that rang true each time she stepped out (and sent fans into frenzy) – and it all comes down to these simple style cues.

Keep scrolling as we delve into the key styles that Meghan Markle nailed throughout her pregnancy – and take joy in the fact that you can easily copy them too (with, or without the bump!).

Blazers, blazers and more blazers

As a royal, there’s a certain standard of dress that’s expected both formally and informally – yep, no Ugg boots or band-tees allowed, even if you’re just nipping out to the corner shop.

But as a heavily pregnant royal, we can’t blame Meghan if she wants to wear something on the comfier side – and that’s exactly what she did, not that any of us noticed it as any different to her usual glam looks.

You see, the savvy Duchess pulled off every look like a royal is expected to – with elegance and class, but she did it with a very simple trick: Just add a blazer.

Indeed, while some of Meghan’s midi-stretch dresses might look a little too casual on their own, by adding a blazer, she transformed her look from casual to, well, fab-sual

Maxi-dresses

While we’re accustomed to seeing royals don formal, structured styles, Meghan has made her own royal rules by introducing the humble maxi-dress into the royal fashion fold – and boy are we glad she did.

After announcing her pregnancy while touring Australia in October last year, what better place was there to debut her slew of stunning maxi dresses? Fans certainly agreed, with many scrambling to buy their own versions online.

From her stripey Bondi-boho look, to her floaty Queensland dress that caused a stir with its daring thigh-high slits, there’s no denying a maxi can go a long way – with or without a bump!

Coats, glorious coats

It wouldn’t be a royal wardrobe without a set of stunning, enviable, glorious coats – and Meghan’s maternity wardrobe certainly didn’t disappoint.

From woollen mackintosh coats, to understated trenches, Markle’s coat game has been very strong throughout her pregnancy.

And the added bonus? Her classic looks are super achievable to find for a fraction of the price – in fact, you can shop her looks here.

Pumps – of the stileto kind

If Meghan was ever going to prove she’s the ultimate fashion muse, it would be by wearing stiletto pumps while heavily pregnant.

Indeed this royal knows no bounds when it comes to looking chic, no matter how big her tummy grows.

Wearing a slew of gorgeous pumps, often designed by her personal favourites Aquazzura or Stuart Weitzman, the Duchess always looked ready for business throughout her pregnancy, and never a wince in sight!

Capped shoulders

While her bump did much of the talking, Meghan ensured her upper body made a strong impression too by wearing a number of styles with capped shoulders.

The style made complete sense for the royal, who not only showed how much she adored her baby bump (the amount of cradling was case in point), but she was also very protective of it.

Thus, her bold-shouldered ensembles gave her a striking look that drew the eye to her upper body and face, rather than her rotund tummy.

Paired with her plethora of floaty skirts and heels, we can’t get enough of this style!

Dreamy boots

Meghan’s boot collection is one that we can only dream of having, but that hasn’t stopped us promptly Googling exactly where to buy each style she steps out in.

Our personal favourite? Her olive suede Sarah Flint tall boots. Yes, they were worth a casual AUD $960. No we don’t have that kind of money just sitting round – but a girl can dream, right?

Dresses fit for a Princess

We weren’t going to let an opportunity to bask in Meghan’s stunning ball gowns go by – so here we are.

When it came to her evening maternity looks, Meghan threw caution to the wind by opting for varied styles that surprised us every time – and in the best way.

The lessen here? Don’t hold back on the glamour! From bare shoulders, to capes and colours, Meghan proves you can look incredible in almost any dress style with a growing bump.

We’ll let the pictures do the talking here.

It has stiff competition, but this heavenly Oscar de la Renta gown is quite possibly our favourite look on Meghan of all time. (Image: Getty)

Her aforementioned Oscar de la Renta gown was iconic, but this custom Dior was a close runner up on Meghan… or is it a tie? We can’t decide, they’re both so good!
