Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are certified fashion icons, but there’s another royal who is well and truly making waves on the style scene these days.

Indeed royal style watch is ever-vibrant at the best of times, but especially now after the formidable Sophie, Countess of Wessex turned things up a notch this year.

And it all came to a peak this week when she wore her very best dress to date.

Sophie wowed onlookers in a unique green dress whilst attending a film premiere in London.

Sophie has been a style star in her own right in the years since she married Prince Edward in 1999, but she’s often flown a little under the radar.

But now, whether or not it’s because of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s shock exit from the royal family earlier this year, there is no denying public attention has well and truly turned towards Sophie in 2020.

Of course many fashion-fanatics were initially in despair at the thought of losing royal style muse Meghan, but Sophie has proved she’s well up to the feat.

Which brings us to the glorious display that came to our eyeballs on February 27.

Sophie stepped out to see a special performance of Sulphur and White in London, and to say she looked stunning would be an understatement.

Talk about making an entrance!

Wearing a heavenly green satin cocktail dress, the Countess was utterly glowing as she walked the red carpet into the event.

With a midi-length design, the dress featured a polo-neck and three quarter sleeves, and literally shined as the cameras flashed.

The glamorous 55-year-old accessorised the look with a matching emerald clutch bag and a pair of nude heels.

And with that, we were officially dazzled.

She’s a red carpet pro! Sophie joined actress Anna Friel at the glitzy event.

And as if you needed any more reasons to covet Sophie’s fashion choices, the heavenly dress wasn’t even the first showstopping style she’d worn that day.

Indeed the very same morning, Sophie stepped out in a beautiful red lace dress by Max Mara during a visit to the Central School of Ballet’s new studios.

Ever poised, Sophie’s midi design featured a gorgeous pattern and a unique shell-neckline.

Simply divine!

The Countess is getting back into the swing of things this week after a brief skiing holiday with her husband and two children, Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12.

It’s expected that things will only get busier for the royal this year, as public gaze continues to seek her elegant displays.

And while of course we’re sad at the idea of seeing less of Harry and Meghan as they step back from their current roles, at least we know Sophie will always be there to provide us with the fashion goods.
