It's subtle yet significant.

When it comes to jewellery, it’s always the pieces with a story behind them that are the most special.

Whilst our favourite royals have donned some impressive jewels over the years, whether they’re engagement rings or tiaras, some hold even more significance.

On a recent ski trip to Verbier, Switzerland, Princess Beatrice was photographed wearing a rather touching necklace that caught the attention of royal fans.

The gold pendant, made by luxury, carbon neutral jewellers Edge of Ember, featured three initials ‘E’, ‘W’ and ‘S’ – ‘E’ is for her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, ‘W’ for her stepson Wolfie and ‘S’ for her daughter Sienna, who was born in September 2021.

However, it seems that Beatrice isn’t the only royal mum to keep her children close to her heart in a more literal sense.

Back in June 2021, Kensington Palace shared a video of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge discussing the launch of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

Fans instantly noticed that her gold round pendant featured the letters ‘G’, ‘C’ and ‘L’, the initials of her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Earlier last year in May she wore a similar necklace that had the same three letters hanging as individual pendants on a delicate chain.

The royal mum-of-three even has a third necklace dedicated to her brood that she wore in 2020.

Though she may not be a working member of the royal family any more, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex also paid homage to her two youngsters through her accessories.

In the video Meghan shared to celebrate her 40th birthday in August 2021, the mum-of-two wore two Logan Hollowell silver necklaces showing the Taurus and Gemini constellations in small diamonds.

The Taurus necklace is a nod to her son Archie’s star sign as he was born in May, whilst the Gemini is in honour of Lilibet who was born in June.

Whilst some of the royal necklaces come with an eye-watering price tag, there are options that you can buy here in Australia that are a little more affordable.

Whether you like Beatrice’s initials, Kate’s circular pendant or Meghan’s constellation, there’s something for everyone.
