Thigh’s the limit! Nicole Kidman’s red carpet wardrobe malfunction

The star put on a very leggy display in an extreme split gown at the London premiere of her latest film, Lion.

Nicole Kidman was the picture of grace as she narrowly avoided a Marilyn Monroe moment during the Lion premiere at the 60th BFI London Film Festival on Tuesday night.

The strawberry blonde beauty, who opted for a black floor-length Armani Prive gown, was left red-faced when an autumn gust of wind parted the daring thigh-high split, revealing her toned legs.

But the always elegant Nicole was prepared for such occurrence and quickly clasped her hands down over the billowing velvet fabric, saving herself from recreating Marilyn’s infamous subway moment.

With a bashful smile, she returned to her poised ways and continued to make her way down the red carpet.

The star managed to regain her composure after her windy reveal!

Co-star Dev was on hand for support.

Joining the 49-year-old at the star-studded event was her co-star Dev Patel, who put on a dapper display in a three-piece suit which dressed up his rugged stubble.

In the film pegged for Oscar success, Nicole plays the adoptive mother of Dev’s character, a young boy from India, who uses both his memory and Google earth to track down his birth parents.

Speaking of how she was so easily able to apply her experience as a mother to the film, Nicole said: “My maternal instincts are very strong.”

The ageless star opted for a classic red lip, that brought out the striking colour of her blue eyes.

“I’m raising two little girls right now and I have two adult children, but Keith, my husband, always says ‘you’re so maternal’, which I take as a compliment!” She quipped to the Press Association.

Continuing, she went on: “I will be sad when there is not a five-year-old in the house. I think of that, but my sister has some under-5s so I still get a little bit of it.”

The incredibly touching tale, which is based on a true story, has Hollywood abuzz for its talk of potential Oscar glory.

Whispers are that the Slumdog Millionaire star is up for best actor, while Nicole is also said to have a shot at adding a second Academy Award to her first attained for her role in the 2002 film, The Hours.

Recalling the moment she first took home the coveted title, Nicole admits: “Winning the Oscar was a turning point, but not in terms of my life as an actor, because it was incredibly validating, but it actually symbolised loneliness to me because I didn’t have anyone to share it with at that stage in my life.”

We bet Sunday Rose and Faith have an absolute ball practicing their future acceptance speeches with the real thing!

But if the star is to win another sought-after statue for her role in Lion, she will have plenty of loved ones to share it with.

As well as her husband of 10-years, the Aussie-born beauty’s success will no doubt be shared with the couple’s daughters, Sunday Rose, eight, and Faith, six.
