Duchess Meghan has shared a stunning tribute to her friend and inspiration Peter Lindbergh, following his shock passing on September 3.
The world was left in mourning after a single Instagram post from the famed photographer's official Instagram account announced the news of his death.
The post, which featured a black and white photo read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Lindbergh on September 3rd 2019, at the age of 74.
"He is survived by his wife Petra, his first wife Astrid, his four sons Benjamin, Jérémy, Simon, Joseph and seven grandchildren. He leaves a big void."
Celebrities and fans - including Meghan Markle - have flooded social media with tributes to the talented photographer, who has shot numerous spreads, campaigns and images that have become iconic in today's media landscape.
On the official Instagram account belonging to both Meghan and Harry, Sussex Royal, two images were posted.
The first featured a backdrop of a photoshoot, and the second, a beautiful intimate photo of Meghan and Lindbergh with their arms around each other and sharing a laugh.
The post read: "Honouring the life and work of photographer Peter Lindbergh."
The Duchess was vocal in her love for Lindbergh's work - she recently chose him to shoot the 15 women who graced the cover of her September edit of British Vogue, which was themed 'Forces for Change'.
Meghan said previously that there was no question when it came to choosing Lindbergh for the campaign - she especially admired him for capturing his subjects in all their natural glory.
The beautiful tribute post on Sussex Royal explained this further: "His work is revered globally for capturing the essence of a subject and promoting healthy ideals of beauty, eschewing photoshopping, and preferring natural beauty with minimal makeup.
"There is no other photographer she considered to bring this meaningful project to life."
Fans flocked to the comments section of the post to share their admiration for the late photographer.
"So sad but so nice that one of his last projects was your Vogue issue," one penned.
Another said: "Such a sad news. I got chills reading that. May his soul rest in peace."
When Lindbergh shot Meghan's Vogue cover shoot, he shared some incredible insights, sharing the specific instructions the Duchess had given him.
"My instructions from the Duchess were clear: 'I want to see freckles!'. Well, that was like running through open doors for me. I love freckles," he said at the time.
