Kylie Minogue on the two dresses she’ll never forget

Plus her recent breakup.
Kylie Minogue

Just to refresh your memory, Kylie Minogue has been gracing our screens since 1986 when she was cast in little TV show called Neighbours and married Jason Donovan. She left our screens and went on to release her debut album in 1988 and has been an Aussie icon ever since. But there’s more to Kylie than gold hotpants and public breakups, as she revealed while in Sydney today to launch her new collection glasses with Specsavers.

Taking a break from the studio, Kylie revealed her latest album is inspired by recent events, including her heartbreaking split from fiancé Joshua Sasse.

Kylie Minogue opens up about her split with fiancé Joshua Sasse.

“It’s been an interesting few months,” Kylie confidently said during the event, but it’s “fantastic for moving forward creatively.”

“I have no regrets. Life is about love and experience and learning and evolving and I am richer and thankful for all of the experiences in my life,” Kylie later said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.

Signing with a new record label has also given her new energy and a new sound but mostly “I feel like I just want to spread the love. So that’s what the album is going to be about.”

But anyways, back to beauty and fashion – aka Kylie’s other passions.

“I’m so used to being busy,” she says, who (impressively to us) has found time to release a 25-piece collection featuring designs based on her personal glasses stash. While Kylie has a few drawers of frames to choose from (and jokes she should text Elton for advice on how to store them properly) she thinks “two is a good start” for someone looking to invest in frames.

“Styles come around” and the vintage pairs Kylie has salvaged over 20 years have influenced the collection. Although the clear frame design is Kylie’s favourite, she puts pink lenses in them to “make life look a little better than it is.”

^ She really does.

“My glasses style is much like my own style: slightly unpredictable. The base is quite classic but then, depending on what one’s mood is or what you’re wearing, where you’re going, what you’re doing [it changes] – you want to have different options.”

Looking back at her fashion choices over the years, Kylie laughed when mentioning a faux-pas: “I haven’t been seen in bicycle pants for a number of years.” yes we remember those!

One of her favourite fashion moments from the man she’s had was wearing a gold sequin Dolce & Gabbana gown to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival: “I love a bit of sparkle.” Another, was the white gown by British designer Ralph & Russo that she wore to perform at the Queen’s 90th last year, “It is just beautiful.”

Kylie is still Australia’s darling and with her new album and glasses collection, she’s taking the high road.
