Grace Kelly beats Kate Middleton for most stylish bride

A poll ranks the Kate Middleton as the second most stylish bride of all time behind Grace Kelly.

What do Grace Kelly, the Duchess of Cambridge and Victoria Beckham all have in common? They have all made the list for the most stylish brides of all time, according to Conde Nast Brides.

A magazine survey revealed the Duchess of Cambridge, formerly Kate Middleton, was the second most stylish bride of all time when she wed Prince William in 2011.

In a ceremony watched by tens of millions, the commoner-turned-royal walked down the aisle in a dazzling Sarah Burton-designed dress for Alexander McQueen.

But the Duchess was pitted to first place by movie star turned Princess Grace Kelly whose 1956 wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco saw Hollywood royalty marry into actual royalty.

The late Carolyn Bessette, who wed John F Kennedy Jr, a man often considered to be unofficial American royalty, came in third place just ahead of former Spice Girl turned designer Victoria Beckham who married football star David Beckham in 1999.

The-eight times married film legend Elizabeth Taylor appeared twice on the top twenty list; once at number five for her wedding to Conrad Hilton and again at 15th for her 1957 union to film producer Mike Todd.

The Duchess’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana sat just outside the top ten in 11th position for her marriage to Prince Charles in 1981.

Grace Kelly topped the list of most stylish brides ever with her 1956 nuptials to Prince Rainier of Monaco. The bride’s wedding gown was a gift from the MGM studios and featured a high collar, long sleeves, a fitted bodice and full skirt and many say it was the inspiration for the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge wed Prince WIlliam in 2011 in a Burton-designed dress for Alexander McQueen in a ceremony watched by millions.

Rounding out the top three is Carolyn Bessette. The late daughter-in-law of former fashion icon and First Lady, Jackie Kennedy, wed John F Kennedy Jr in 1996 and she asked friend, and then unknown designer, Narciso Rodriguez to make the gown she wore. The simple and elegant dress was hailed a success and launched the American fashion designer’s career.

At number four is Victoria Beckham. Before she was hailed a success at New York Fashion Week, Posh Spice wed football star David Beckham in an elaborate ceremony where she wore a puffy Disney-princess inspired skirt and tiara.

The-eight times married film legend Elizabeth Taylor appeared at number five on the list for her wedding to American hotelier Conrad Hilton.

Friends star Courteney Cox was a surprise inclusion to the top 10 taking out sixth position for her 1999 wedding to fellow actor David Arquette.

Actress Salma Hayek sits at number seven for her union to businessman, Francois-Henri Pinault. The two wed in a surprise ceremony at City Hall in Paris on Valentine’s Day 2009 but then married two months later for a second time at Venice’s opera house. The bride wore a Balenciaga wedding gown by Nicolas Ghesquiere for the lavish Italian affair.

At number eight is Priscilla Presley who was the youthful bride to Elvis Presley in a 1967 ceremony. Priscilla wore an ethereal in a white silk chiffon dress and a three-foot tulle veil for her wedding to the King of Rock and Roll.

Low-key bride Mia Farrow was number nine on the list for her marriage to Frank Sinatra.

Royal bride Princess Anne and her wedding to Captain Mark Phillips made number 10 on the list.

Madonna made the list at 12 for for her 1895 nuptials to actor and activist Sean Penn.

Blushing bride Queen Elizabeth was number 13. She wed Prince Philip in 1947.

Elizabeth Taylor made the list for the second time at number 15 when she wed film producer, Mike Todd in 1957.

Dean Martin’s second wife, Jeanne Biegger, whom he married in 1949, was the list’s 16th most stylish.

While her marriage to Tom Cruise may have not worked out, Katie Holmes came in at number 17 for her 2006 vows.

Of course bohemian bride Bianca Jagger, who married rocker Mick Jagger in 1971, was a welcome addition to the stylish list at 18th place.

Jackie Kennedy was number 19 on the list for her wedding to former US president, John F Kennedy.

Farrah Fawcett and her eccentric outfit, which saw her marry fellow actor Lee Majors in 1973, rounded out the top 20.
