Using a discount code with Europcar takes less than two minutes once you know where to look (yes, I timed it!). The coupon field is not on the first page of checkout, which trips up a lot of people.
Here is exactly where to find it:
- Find your code: Click on “Add a coupon code” (it’s after the driver details and before payments), enter the code and hit the “Add coupon code” button to update your booking.
- Head to Europcar: You’ll get key details of the offer and any discount code, and a new window will open so you can head straight to Europcar. Enter your pick-up location, dates and times to get a quote.
- Choose your vehicle: Browse the available cars, vans or trucks and select the one that suits your needs. Europcar sorts vehicles by category, so you can filter by type — compact, SUV, electric, premium, van and more.
- Work through the booking details: You will be asked to fill in driver details and choose any extras — things like GPS, a child seat, additional drivers or enhanced insurance cover.
- Add the code at checkout: After the driver details section and before the payment section, look for the field labelled “Add a coupon code”. Type or paste your code in, then click “Add coupon code” to apply it. Your total should update to reflect the saving.
- Complete your booking: Review the updated total, confirm your payment method and complete the booking. Europcar accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards, as well as bank-issued Visa and Mastercard debit cards at most locations. - Book early: Europcar currently offers up to 20% off for bookings of two or more days when they’re made at least 21 days in advance.
- Schedule your pick-up during the week: Europcar often has discounted rates if you pick up your rental on a particular day of the week. For example, when I checked, you could get 25% off the base hire rate by picking up the vehicle on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.
- Check for partner deals: Europcar’s partnerships with Accor, and frequent flyer programs linked with Virgin Australia, Emirates, Qatar and Singapore Airlines mean you can earn points and get other benefits – like exclusive member discounts. For example, the Europcar website says Virgin Australia and Qatar customers get benefits that include “discounts on car rentals”. - Book with frequent flyer points: If you’re a member of Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program you can use points to pay for part or all of your Europcar rental, with a minimum of 2000 points. You also earn Velocity Points on Europcar hire – so make sure you enter your frequent flyer number on bookings.
- Check for member discounts: If you’re a member of RACV, RACQ or another auto club, you could get discounts with Europcar just by entering your member details when you book.

How much can I save with an Europcar discount code?
Savings vary by offer, but Europcar discount codes typically deliver between 10% and 20% off the base rate. The base rate covers the cost of the vehicle and kilometres (most Australian rentals include unlimited kilometres), but does not include extras like GPS, additional drivers, toll passes or enhanced insurance. Combining a code with the free Privilege For You loyalty program is not always possible — check the terms of each offer to see what can be stacked.
Can I use more than one Europcar discount code?
Generally, no. Europcar’s standard terms specify that offers cannot be combined with other promotions. What is the RACV discount for Europcar?

Does Europcar offer free delivery?
Rather than delivery, you typically pick up and drop off your rental vehicle at a Europcar branch. But some Europcar locations in Australia can arrange delivery and collection of your rental vehicle to or from an address, such as your home, office or hotel.
Keep in mind that this is not available at all locations and is typically arranged by contacting the branch directly rather than through the standard online booking process. It is best to call your nearest branch to ask if this service is available and whether any additional charge applies.
What Europcar does offer in terms of convenience is a large network of branches, more than 120 across Australia, including locations at all major airports (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney) and city centres. So chances are, a branch is not far from where you need to be
What types of vehicles does Europcar hire?
Europcar hires smaller cars like sedans and hatchbacks, SUVs and 4WDs, electric cars and premium cars. In Australia, you can also hire trucks and vans through Europcar – which could be great if you’re moving homes or want a bit more storage space for a trip. When you’re booking, you can pick the type of car you want, although it may vary a bit depending on availability when you pick it up.
Does Europcar have electric cars?
Yes. Europcar has electric vehicles in its Australian fleet, including Polestar, MG, BMW, Mercedes and Hyundai models. You can also filter by the range (how far it can go before needing to be charged), vehicle category and number of passengers.
In the past, Europcar has also offered specific discounts on EV rentals and prestige models, so it is worth checking the current promotions page if an electric car is what you are after. Europcar is also a long-standing partner of GreenFleet, a non-profit environmental organisation, and customers can donate to GreenFleet when they hire.
What is the minimum age to rent from Europcar in Australia?
You must be at least 21 years old to rent a vehicle from Europcar in Australia, and you need to have held a full driver’s licence for at least 12 months. Drivers under 25 may be subject to a Young Driver surcharge and may be restricted from renting certain vehicle categories, typically premium or larger models. Some vehicle types require the driver to be at least 23. There is no upper age limit for renting with Europcar in Australia
Does Europcar charge extra for additional drivers?
Yes. Europcar charges $11 per additional driver per day, capped at $220 per rental. Any additional driver must hold a full, valid driver’s licence and must be present at the time of vehicle collection. Some higher-tier Privilege For You loyalty members may have this fee waived as a membership benefit.
Do I need to get insurance with Europcar?
Europcar bookings include third party liability insurance, a collision damage waiver and theft waiver, so you don’t need to pay extra for those. But if you need to make a claim, you’ll usually need to pay an excess amount, unless you have other insurance that covers it. My tip? If you’re going overseas, check your international travel insurance policy to see if it offers car rental excess cover. I had that last time I hired a car overseas and it saved me paying for extra cover – and gave me peace of mind.
Does Europcar charge for scratches?
Yes, Europcar will charge a fee for new scratches or other damage on your returned rental vehicle. The amount you pay is based on the estimated cost of repair or replacement, as quoted by an authorised repair shop.
So, it’s important to be as detailed as possible on the inspection forms when you’re picking up the car. And when you drop it off, letting Europcar know about any noticeable damage can speed up the process. Otherwise, it could take up to 60 days. Can I cancel my Europcar booking?
If you need to cancel, you can do so free of charge provided you give at least 48 hours’ notice before your scheduled pick-up time. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may incur a fee of up to $99. No-show cancellations may also attract a charge. Cancellations need to be processed through your Europcar account using your original driver ID.
What is included in an Europcar rental?
A standard Europcar booking typically includes the vehicle, basic third-party liability insurance, a collision damage waiver, a theft waiver, unlimited kilometres (on most Australian rentals), 24/7 roadside assistance and registration. Is Europcar owned by Hertz?
Europcar is not owned by Hertz, which is one of their biggest rivals. Europcar is owned by Green Mobility Holding, which is a consortium made up of Volkswagen, Attestor and Pon Holdings. Hertz, on the other hand, is owned by Hertz Global Holdings. They also own Thrifty, Dollar Car Rental and Firefly Car Rental.
In Australia, Europcar competes with Hertz brands, as well as Avis, Budget and local players in terms of both convenience and corporate fleets. With around 125 locations in Australia, and a vast network overseas, Europcar is definitely one of the major players in car hire. The fact that its loyalty program gives you 10% off here and in plenty of popular countries to visit doesn’t hurt, either.
