Production is underway on Veep season seven, with the final season set to premiere in mid 2019.

HBO president of programming Casey Bloys confirmed the news at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills, California, on Wednesday.

“Writers are now getting together, with shooting scheduled to begin this fall, and the final Season 7 airing sometime this spring,” he says, referring to the American seasons.

With the show set to air in spring in the US, it should premiere in Australia some time in autumn, 2019.

The seventh season is set to pick up with Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) running a re-election campaign for President of the United States. Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson are all set to return in season seven, too.

Leading lady Julia shared her breast cancer diagnosis last September. Production on the seventh season of the hit political comedy was halted, as the 57-year-old actress underwent treatment and surgery.

Julia’s Veep co-stars Tony Hale and Timothy Simons created this video for the actress, after her diagnosis was made public.

Julia shared her last day of chemotherapy, January 12th, with her Instagram followers. She later revealed in February that she had undergone surgery.

“Hoorah! Great doctors, great results, feeling happy and ready to rock after surgery. Hey cancer, “Fuck you!”” she wrote on Instagram.

The actress is currently enjoying a holiday with her husband, Brad Hall, following her cancer treatment.

We can’t wait for Julia to reprise her role as Selina one more time!
