Fans of the mythical Spider Pig, and the town of Springfield, have finally been given the news they were waiting for: a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is reportedly in the works.

The sequel is reportedly under production at Fox, 11 years after the first film premiered in 2007.

The first film saw Homer pollute Lake Springfield, making him responsible for the entire town being isolated under a glass dome. He saved the day, the animated universe moved on with more seasons, and here we are!

The Simpsons Movie is getting a sequel!

The Wall Street Journal shared the plans for the sequel, in a piece looking at the future of Fox after the company was bought by the Walt Disney Company.

The publication reveals that 20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Snider has “emphasised a revamp of Fox’s approach to animation.”

Part of that ‘revamp’ involves working with a new partner, to replace an expired deal with DreamWorks Animation. The revamp will see the studio create new projects, including The Simpsons Movie sequel.

The WSJ claims the studio is also working on a big-screen adaptation of Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy, along with the second Simpsons movie. Now all we need is for someone to get cracking on a new Futurama film and we’ll be ready for a movie marathon.

Is a Family Guy movie coming our way?

Screenrant claims to have discovered more information about the Family Guy movie, saying the film will be a combination of the show’s traditional animation format with some live-action elements.

The publication also reports that Seth MacFarlane, who created the show and also voices multiple characters, will be involved.

The reports are yet to be confirmed by the studio, though for now the WSJ and Screenrant articles are causing mayhem around the web.

Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting – potential – projects!
