Controversial couple Ronnie and Georgia have no regrets about their time on The Block

Since day one on The Block, married duo Ronnie and Georgia have made it clear they’re in it to win it.

Having renovated more than 10 properties together, the pair are well and truly a force to be reckoned with. But their steadfast competitiveness hasn’t exactly won them any allies on site.

Despite comments from the other teams about their ruthless gameplay and hostile behaviour, Perth mum Georgia and tradie husband Ronnie, 41, stand by their actions.

“At some point, I realised that The Block is a competition,” she says. “It’s not The Babysitters Club and we’re not all going to be friends and hang out – it’s a competition and it’s what the show is designed to be.”

As strong contenders to win, Georgia feels the teams became jealous of their renovation experience.

“We’re in week 3 now and we’ve taken two out of three wins, so people see us as a threat,” she says. “The other teams became wary of us.”

The 33-year-old also believes her fellow Blockheads often misinterpreted the duo’s banter, which didn’t help the rising tension.

“It took a while for people to understand what we were about and to understand Ronnie’s humour,” she says. “Often when he was joking, they thought he was serious.”

Georgia does admit that her competitiveness streak sometimes gets the better of her. So much so, it may have been a detriment in making friends. But, she won’t apologise for staying focussed on the task at hand.

In fact, the ongoing drama is simply water off a duck’s back for this pair!

“There’s a lot of drama that happens on the show and we’re involved in a bit of it,” she says. “It can be a distraction but the greatest form of payback is success [laughs], so that was our focus.”

For Georgia and Ronnie, who married in 2011, The Block is all about making a better life for their family.

“For us to be away from our children for three months was a really hard decision,” Georgia explains. “And, the only thing guaranteed on The Block is the $100K. So we thought if we’re going to do it, we’re here to win.

“We were really proud of the way we carried ourselves on the show and what we produced.”
