The Block’s Wombat is not a fan of Ronnie and Georgia

Ronnie & Georgia's competitiveness has rattled Wombat.

From day one Georgia and Ronnie made it clear they weren’t on The Block to make friends, and they’ve certainly stuck to that strategy.

Fellow contestant Wombat, 38, tells TV WEEK that he and his best friend and teammate Sticks were instantly rattled by the pair’s competitive behaviour.

“Ronnie and Georgia are there to play the game. That’s all they’re there to do,” he explains of the husband-and-wife duo.

“That was weird for me. We are such friendly people and we can get along with everyone. So when they came out (so unfriendly) it was like ‘Well, okay then!’ It’s confronting.”

The pair has clashed frequently with Josh and his partner Elyse, who Wombat describes as his “close friends.”

He puts the tension down to Ronnie and Georgia feeling threatened by the younger team’s creative flair and eye for design.

“Josh and Elyse are a really friendly couple, but Georgia and Ronnie felt like they were their competition straight away,” he says.

“I don’t think they were too fazed by us two guys – like, ‘How are they going to style a room?’ kind of thing. That’s why they were so blown away when we smoked them in the bathroom reveal!”

Ronnie & Georgia don’t care what the other teams think of them.

Luckily, laidback Wombat can see the humour in Ronnie and Georgia’s fierce gameplay – even when it is directed at him.

“I was actually watching the show on TV and found Ronnie’s comment about us copying their bathtub so funny,” he recalls of his rival’s accusation.

“We ordered that on day one, nice try mate.”

The salesman hints that Ronnie and Georgia’s behaviour doesn’t exactly improve as the competition heats up.

“You’re going to see more of their troublemaking as the show goes along,” he reveals.
