The best and worst rooms from this season of House Rules

Judge Wendy Moore gives her (very) honest opinions.
Wendy House Rules

She’s seen every room in every single house up close. Now judge Wendy Moore tells TV WEEK which rooms are her favourites – and which ones she can’t stand.

The lounge room in Aaron and Daniella’s house in Qld (Sean and Ella): “That was a beautiful room too. I loved the furniture choices, I loved the colour scheme, and I loved their timber feature wall. Beautiful.”

The kitchen in Sean and Ella’s house in Tasmania (Aaron and Daniella): “I thought that was a great kitchen. I loved the size and the design of the kitchen island. I loved the the coffee nook in the corner. I really liked those doors that had little cutouts instead of handles. Clever and different.”

The bathroom in Andrew and Jono’s house in WA (Sean and Ella): “I loved the steampunk bathroom. That was just seriously cool. That incredible copper bath, and that double shower. I loved it.”

The dining room in Andrew and Jono’s house in WA (Sean and Ella): “I actually loved the dining room, even though I wasn’t sure it met the House Rules. I thought it was a really lovely room and I though their floral wall covering was just perfect.”

The outdoor room in Fiona and Nicole’s house in Victoria (Andrew and Jono): “This one is a bit controversial, because I actually loved the bonus room that the boys did in the very first reno. I just thought that it absolutely captured the essence of what living there in that house is all about. I could see it being a real hub of socialising and hanging out. I thought it was fantastic.”

Bec’s son’s bedroom in Troy’s house in NSW (Sean and Ella): “I thought it was really clever, the way they had that soccer field on the ceiling. That was a really nice room and it was a really nice use of space. It’s hard to design a teenage boy’s room and I thought they did a really good job.”

The lounge room in Troy and Bec’s house in NSW (Nicole and Fiona): “The lounge room that the girls did was terrible. I just thought it was so uncomfortable and it was so unwelcoming, everything that they chose and the layout that they decided on.”

The speakeasy bar in Andrew and Jono’s house in WA (Nicole and Fiona): “I think the room that I was most disappointed in was the speakeasy bar. Having been to New York quite recently, I had a real sense of what it would look like and I was really excited. Then I got in there and just deflated. I think that was a massive wasted opportunity.”

The hallway in Andrew and Jono’s house in WA (Nicole and Fiona): “I have to add the hallway. That was just horrific. I could not find one thing I liked about it. It was awful. And the paintwork! The TV made it look way better than it did in real life. It was terrible.”

The study in Sean and Ella’s house in Tasmania (Bec and Troy): “I really didn’t like Bec and Troy’s study. It just felt really awkward. The walls didn’t work, the furniture wasn’t right… there was no soul in there at all.”
