Australian Survivor’s Locky confesses to the weakness that could prove his downfall

‘I’m too paranoid.’

Australian Survivor’s gruelling physical challenges may be a breeze for Locky, but he reveals he’s hiding a secret weakness from the other contestants.

The adventure guide tells TV WEEK his biggest fear
is that his “paranoia” will affect his game.

“Just not knowing what people are talking about,
and knowing they’re going
to be talking about me,”
the 27-year-old explains.

“Sitting there talking to someone and you’re like, ‘Sweet, we’re good.’ But then they walk off with someone who you don’t have an alliance with. That’s going to get to me, I reckon.”

As part of Samatau’s large alliance, Locky found himself the target when Mark H, aka “Tarzan”, tried to turn several tribe members against him.

“I don’t really like people disliking me,” Locky admits. “I think it will be the hardest bit of my game.”

Locky became reluctant tribe leader within minutes of arriving at camp. It’s a role he knows has to be played out carefully.

“The leader in pretty much every season of Survivor gets taken out,” he pointed out
in the first episode.

When it comes to strategy, Locky is taking inspiration from Lee Carseldine, the runner-up on Australian Survivor last season.

“Lee did it perfectly,” Locky says. “He was holding back a bit. Then, when he needed to win challenges, he did.

“I want to do that, but
I want to do more big moves than he did.”
