Suits fans have been left wondering if the legal drama will return, as the end of the seventh season also marks the end of the cast’s contracts.

But we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief as the show’s creator Aaron Korsh has revealed that he’s optimistic that the show will return for an eighth season, despite the fact that a renewal hasn’t been confirmed.

“I’m always operating under the assumption that we’ll be back next year,” Aaron told Deadline.

“It’s never been wrong yet; obviously one day it will be wrong and when that time comes, I’ll know well in advance.”

The season seven mid-season finale ended on somewhat of a cliff-hanger when Donna (Sarah Rafferty) kissed Harvey (Gabriel Macht), even though he is currently together with his ex-psychologist Paula (Christine Cole).

This begs the question – will Aaron end season seven on another cliff-hanger or will he wrap up the storyline in case the show is cancelled?

“We always try to end on something that’s an end of a chapter, not the end of a series,” he said.

“I’m highly confident that we’ll be back for season 8, so I’m planning it as end of chapter.”

Donna laid it all on the line when she kissed Harvey.

If the worst does happen and Suits isn’t renewed (sobs), there is another option that will soon be available for your viewing pleasure.

A Suits spin-off starring Gina Torres’s character Jessica Pearson is in the works and the finale of the current season of Suits will serve as a backdoor pilot for Jessica’s show, which follows her life as she pursues her political ambitions.

Fingers crossed Harvey, Mike and Donna are back together for an eight season!
