No matter how hard Mark’s tried, he’s struggled to overcome the heartbreak of Elly’s betrayal.

While his ex is moving on and preparing to have a baby with another man, Mark (Scott McGregor) is stuck in the same cycle. In Neighbours this week, the beloved police officer decides it’s time he move on as well by leaving town.

Fans may recall Elly (Jodi Anasta) slept with Mark’s sister Chloe (April Rose Pengilly) on the eve of their wedding, believing her fiancé had called off the nuptials.

When he returned home on their special day to apologise for their fight, Elly kept her betrayal a secret. But the guilt became too much and Elly confessed after they’d tied the knot.

The newlyweds tried to work things out, but when Elly fell pregnant to Shaun (Brad Moller) and hid the truth from Mark, her web of lies quickly unravelled. Mark was devastated and has been grappling with putting his life back together since.

When the police officer spots Elly getting close with Shaun this week, his heartache resurfaces.

Meanwhile, the Brennans have been scrambling to figure out how to care for their mother Fay (Zoe Bertram) as her Huntington’s disease worsens. When she went missing from her Adelaide home last week, only to turn up on Ramsay Street, it became clear she needed full-time care.

Aaron (Mat Wilson) prepares to talk to David (Takaya Honda) about uprooting their lives to take on the role. But as he’s about to break the news to his husband that they need to move interstate, Mark announces he’s going.
