A revival of the popular 1990s sitcom Roseanne is in the works according to Deadline.

Original cast members Roseanne Barr, John Goodman and Sara Gilbert have all reportedly signed on for the reboot.

A this stage the project is being shopped around. It is believed, however, that the streaming giant Netflix may pick it up following the success of recent reboots including Full House and Gilmore Girls. Alternatively, it may run on the show’s original network ABC.

The series ran from 1988 to 1997 and was based on the lives of the working-class Conner family. The second instalment is expected to be a limited run of eight episodes.

Following the news of a potential revival, Roseanne Barr took to Twitter to express her excitement.

“I will let you know when/if there is to be a reboot of Roseanne,” she wrote.

“Of course I want to do a reboot of Roseanne,” she added. “New political reality in our country will make for some great jokes.”

Many fans have questioned how John Goodman’s character Dan could come back, considering it was revealed he died in the finale, however according to Roseanne, she’s already got this nutted out.

“I’ve already written the scenes about Dan’s death – don’t send me more suggestions,” she wrote to fans on Twitter.

John Goodman has previously been vocal about his desire for a Roseanne reunion telling Julie Chen on The Talk, “Oh, hell yes … if we could get everyone together”.

May 20th will mark 20 years since the show’s finale.

This new instalment is expected to be produced by the same EPs as the original, including Tom Werner, Roseanne Barr, Bruce Helford, Sarah Gilbert and Whitney Cummings.
