Secrets and scandals are all in a day’s work on The Real Housewives Of New Jersey, but Melissa Gorga admits it can be painful watching her family dramas unfold on screen.

“We’re so used to it by now and are very real with the fact that we show what’s really happening,” Melissa, 39, tells TV WEEK.

Over the years, we’ve often seen Melissa and her sister-in-law Teresa, 46, come to blows.

“We have our ups and downs,” Melissa admits.

“We go back and forth, and we don’t agree on everything, but we’re family; we make it work.”

Melissa likes to keep it painfully real.

One particular fallout stands out: her son’s christening in 2011, which ended in a brawl.

Melissa and her husband Joe (who is also Teresa’s brother) found themselves butting heads with Teresa and her husband, also named Joe, in the lead up to the event.

But things went into overdrive when Tersea and Joe showed up late to the church for the christening.

After attempting to congratulate Melissa and Joe, a fight broke out between the two women which resulted in the men coming to physical blows with each other.

“I wish we’d never filmed it!” she says.

Although fights are always inevitable on The Real Housewives Of New Jersey, Melissa says that we won’t see the fights between her and Teresa be quite as explosive as we have seen in the past.

“No, we’re not going to have knock-down, drag-out fights, but Teresa and I do fight this season. We do get into a couple arguments. It’s sisters-in-law, we are family,” she revealed to E! News.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey streams on Hayu, and airs Thursdays at 1:35pm and 8:30pm on Arena (Foxtel).
