Outlander fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their beloved series, with Season 4 set to air in November 2018.

Leading man Sam Heughan (Jamie) has only added to the fanfare, by dropping hints about future episodes on U.K. breakfast show The Morning.

Outlander follows time travelling couple Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam) and is based on the series of books by Diana Gabaldon. The third season saw the pair wash up on the shores of the United States.

On The Morning, Sam confirmed that Season 4 will see Jamie and Claire begin their journey in America.

“We ended in America, in Georgia, and you know series four is about them establishing a home in America. It’s about America in it’s infancy,” he says.

The 38-year-old actor commented on how their romance travels, hinting that things will not go well for the pair.

“The course of true love never does run smoothly, it’s all fine for a while and then thrown into jeopardy,” Sam confessed.

Though the team are still filming Outlander’s fourth season in Scotland, US network Starz recently confirmed they had picked it up for a fifth and sixth season.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht says of the decision: “Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World.”

Outlander currently airs on Foxtel’s Showcase channel in Australia, with previous seasons available to stream on Netflix.
