Netflix has confirmed that the prisoners will no longer call Litchfield Penitentiary home in season six of Orange is the New Black.

Following the destructive three-day prison takeover that took place in season five, the inmates will be relocated to a maximum security lock-down facility when the series returns.

It hardly comes a surprise to fans, who were warned that the prison drama’s sixth season would explore ‘a whole new world.’

The season’s first teaser was released earlier this month, and showed a prisoner transport vehicle pulling away from a destroyed Litchfield. The teaser tag-line ‘To The Max’ hinted the inmates would be moving to maximum security as punishment.

The new prison setting has officially been confirmed, with Netflix releasing a newly-cut opening title sequence. All the references to Litchfield have been removed from the credits, with images of the new prison being added in their place.

From handcuffs in the shower, to tiny new rooms, the revamped opening credits hint at some of the increased security measures the inmates will face.

The streaming service also gave fans a closer first look at their favourite character’s new home.

Netflix shared four photos on Twitter, which show off the scary new digs.

It’s safe to say things are looking pretty bleak for the inmates…

Orange is the New Black Season 6 hits Netflix on July 27th.
