Fans have scored their first look at Netflix’s new series, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The new show, which stars Kiernan Shipka in the lead role as Sabrina Spellman, is due to premiere in October. On Tuesday, Netflix shared the first spell-binding images of the show.

Based on the ominous imagery, it looks like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set to stand in dark contrast to the light and breezy 90s show Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

In one photo, Sabrina stands in a forest wearing a bright red coat, holding a tree-branch and a bell. In the other, we see a scene from the dark baptism of Sabrina, showing the young witch with Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood; Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman; Mirando Otto as Zelda Spellman; and Abigail Cowan, Adeline Rudolph and Tati Gabrielle as The Weird Sisters.

Netflix’s new series is based on the eight-issue run of the Archie Horror comic of the same name.

The new coming-of-age story will follow Sabrina as she attempts to “reconcile her dual nature – half-mortal, half-witch – while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”

Though it will be darker, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will have some of the same characters that fans know and love.

As mentioned, Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto are starring as Hilda and Zelda Spellman. Ross Lynch is stepping in to the role of heartthrob Harvey Kinkle. And, most importantly, her beloved sassy cat Salem will still be a part of the show. Netflix even recreated his iconic nail-filing scene for a cute Instagram post.
