Be prepared for a flood of nostalgia with the release of the trailer for Netflix’s reboot of Anne Of Green Gables. The exciting new trailer captures the magic and imagination of the much-loved novel, which was originally released in 1908, a whopping 108 years ago.

The Netflix adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic coming-of-age story is being headed up by Breaking Bad writer Moira Walley-Beckett, who won an Emmy for her work on the gritty and groundbreaking series.

The world of Anne couldn’t be further away from the grittiness of Breaking Bad’s Walter White and co, but as far as we can see from the first teaser, the trailer perfectly captures the charming essence of Green Gables and we can already see a new fave is on the cards.

Portraying Anne Shirley in this adaptation is 14-year-old Amybeth McNulty, an Irish-Canadian actress who has had minor roles in British series Agatha Raisin and Irish drama Clean Break.

Joining Amybeth are Geraldine James (Alice In Wonderland, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and RH Thomson (Vision Quest) as the pair who take Anne in despite the mix-up with her adoption.

The novel followed Anne Shirley, an orphan who is sent to Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert by mistake, as they originally requested a boy to help them on their farm.

Despite the mix-up, the pair decides to keep Anne and her adventures in Green Gables begin.

Lucy Maud Montgomery’s first Anne Of Green Gables novel was a smash hit, going on to sell more than 50 million copies worldwide! After the success of Anne Of Green Gables, Lucy published another nine books, which continued to revolve around the characters and their children.

The eight-part drama series will premiere globally – and, more importantly, be ready to binge! – on Netflix on May 12.
