Hold on to your detective caps, because Making A Murderer Part 2 is officially returning to a screen near you VERY soon.

Along with sharing a first look at the second chapter of the critically acclaimed series, Netflix has confirmed new episodes will launch globally on October 19th 2018.

The ten-episode first season explored how Steven Avery served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder, before being exonerated. He then wound up back in prison for a – potentially framed – murder of a second woman. The first season was filmed over the course of ten years.

In this second chapter, filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos return to Mantiwoc County in the United States, where they have exclusive access to Steven and his co-defendant and nephew Brendan Dassey, their families and the legal teams fighting for justice on their behalf.

In August 2016, Brendan’s conviction was overturned by a federal judge on the grounds that he was unconstitutionally coerced by the police in to confessing to the murder. A series of appeals from the U.S. Court of Appeals have since seen his conviction reinstated. Brendan remains in prison, as does Steven.

“Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” said executive producers, writers and directors Laura and Moira.

“Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”

The new trailer picks up after the success of season one, and follows how the case has been turned on it’s head since it was brought to international attention. The clip introduces us to lawyer Kathleen Zellner, who is known for her ability to have wrongful convictions overturned.
