After silently wreaking havoc on the Rebecchis’ lives in recent weeks, Alice makes her final and most deadly move to tear Toadie and Sonya apart.

The drama picks up in Neighbours this week as Alice (Kerry Armstrong) subtly convinces Sonya (Eve Morey) to take a nursery delivery out of town.

But when the seemingly sweet grandmother and nanny offers to accompany her, it’s clear she’s up to something sinister.

Our fears are confirmed when Alice makes sure Sonya is wearing her gardening gloves – which she’s dipped in a deadly pesticide.

As the pair set out on the road, Alice offers up freshly baked treats, watching as Sonya licks the crumbs from her fingers, unknowingly covered in poison.

Sonya stars to feel the effects of the poison.

When Sonya starts to experience crippling stomach cramps, Alice pulls over along a deserted road.

“She doesn’t know why she feels so ill – she thinks perhaps it’s something she’s eaten,” Eve, 35, tells TV WEEK.

“At that point, Sonya doesn’t suspect Alice – in a way, she’s comforted that Alice is with her while she’s going through this.”

Sonya collapses as the poison takes hold, with Alice cruelly ignoring her pleas for help. Instead, she leaves her for dead!

“Only after Alice leaves her on the side of the road does Sonya vaguely piece together what’s been going on,” Eve explains.

“She’s riddled with pain, but at the same time, the person who she’s learnt to depend on is responsible – it’s almost like she’s hallucinating.”

Unhinged Alice cruelly records her distress.

Meanwhile, back in Erinsborough, Willow (Mieke Billing-Smith) arrives to visit Toadie (Ryan Moloney). When she learns Sonya has taken off somewhere, she’s immediately worried – that is, until she comes face-to-face with Alice.

Willow thought her grandmother was supposed to be dead!

Shocked to discover the private investigator’s file Toadie has on Alice is a fake (thanks to Alice’s meddling), Willow demands answers from her grandmother.

But as Alice tries to spin a story to cover herself, it becomes clear to Willow that Sonya’s absence is no coincidence.

When a furious Alice catches Willow sending a warning text message to Toadie, she locks the youngster in a shed.

Alice locks her granddaughter in a shed.

Meanwhile, poor Sonya is in agony and getting worse with each passing second.

“The pain is excruciating and she can hardly breathe,” Eve says.

“She does contemplate that this could be the end for her.”

Toadie is frantic with worry about his wife.

Neighbours airs weeknights, 6:30pm, on 10 Peach.
