ABC’s highly anticipated drama series Mystery Road has finally been given an air date!

The series will premiere on Sunday 3rd of June with two back-to-back episodes, before the entire six-part series is shared for binge-lovers on ABC iview following the broadcast.

Mystery Road, which is a spin-off of the 2013 film of the same name and its 2016 sequel Goldstone, features an all-star Australian cast led by Aaron Pedersen and Judy Davis.

Also starring is four-time TV WEEK Logie Awards winner Deborah Mailman, along with Colin Friels, Wayne Blair, Anthony Hayes, Ernie Dingo, John Waters, Aaron McGrath, Tasma Walton, Madeleine Madden, Kris McQuade, Meyne Wyatt, Tasia Zalar and Ningali Lawford Wolf.

Set against the jaw-dropping backdrop of Western Australia’s East Kimberley, the series follows Detective Jay Swan (Pedersen) and local cop Emma James (Davis) as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of a local indigenous footy hero and backpacker at an outback cattle station.

Mystery Road promises to be a captivating and unmissable program, and has already received high praise within the industry.

It’s the only Australian television series to be in competition at the prestigious TV drama festival Series Mania in Lille, France, later this month. It’s also set to have a masterclass session at Banff World Media Festival in June, an honour previously bestowed upon major shows such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Black-ish and True Detective.

Mystery Road premieres on ABC and ABC iview on Sunday, 3rd of June at 8:30pm.
