It’s been eight wonderful years of laughs and cries while watching one of our favourite shows, Modern Family.

Since the comedy series aired in 2009, we’ve seen huge changes in the Dunphys and Pritchetts (little Lily isn’t a baby anymore – she’s now 10 years old!).

But while the ninth season just premiered last month in the US, Australian fans won’t be seeing much of it anymore. After failed negotiations with Fox, Network Ten has pulled the show off free-to-air TV, along with The Simpsons and This Is Us.

So while we can’t see what clumsy move Phil Dunphy pulls next, we hope this gallery can tide you over. Take a peek at what the original cast looked like eight years compared to now.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays Mitchell Pritchett.

Jesse’s on-screen husband is played by Eric Stonestreet, AKA Cameron Tucker.

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons joined the cast in season three to play Cam and Mitchell’s adopted daughter, Lily. Before that, the character was played by little bubs Ella and Jaden Hiller.

Sofia Vergara plays fiery Colombian Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. She’s a mum to Manny and Joe.

Ed O’Neill plays Gloria’s husband Jay Pritchett and father to Claire and Mitchell.

The middle Dunphy child and brains of the family, Alex, is played by Ariel Winter.

Sassy Haley Dunphy is played by Sarah Hyland.

The youngest Dunphy, Luke, is played by Nolan Gould.

Ty Burrell plays the lovable Phil Dunphy.

Julia Bowen plays Claire Dunphy.
